I am a research scientist and the head of the Research Centre for Paleolithic and Paleoanthropology at the Institute of Archaeology of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Brno.

In my work, I focus primarily on the Upper Paleolithic and Mesolithic periods in the Central European context, with a specialisation in studying the knapped lithic industry regarding technology and typology. I am also interested in the intra-site spatial analysis and reconstruction of the settlement models typical in the Central European Gravettian in terms of intra-site development dynamics and spatial organisation to understand the behaviour of Upper Paleolithic and Mesolithic foragers concerning their economic-subsistence strategies and socio-cultural adaptations to the local environment. In the mentioned research fields, I participated in the analysis and complex evaluation of lithic assemblages from the Moravian Gravettian sites as the Dolní Věstonice I and II, Milovice IV, Pavlov I, II and VI, Předmostí I and Ostrava Petřkovice, and from the Mesolithic rock-shelters in Northern Bohemia. I also participated in or directly led the field research of these mentioned sites.

As part of the MAMBA project, I participate in its archaeological part. I am responsible for the archaeological excavation of the mammoth bone deposit at the Dolní Věstonice I site, for processing the field data and analysing the lithic industry from this site regarding raw materials, technology and typology.
